What is \u201cNeighborhood Noise\u201d?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n


Regulated by Decree-Law No. 9\/2007, neighborhood noise is defined as sound produced by the use of dwellings or associated activities which, due to its duration, repetition, or intensity, disturbs the peace or well-being of others. This includes noise from people, animals, or machinery.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Report<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Initial contact:<\/strong>\u00a0Call your local police station (PSP or GNR).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Details:<\/strong>\u00a0You will need to identify yourself, describe the noise, indicate its frequency and duration, and specify the source.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Police action:<\/strong>\u00a0The authorities may attend to assess the situation. If the disturbance is confirmed, they will ask the source to reduce the noise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Sanctions:<\/strong>\u00a0If the noise recurs within 24 hours, a fine of\u00a0\u20ac200.00<\/strong>\u00a0may be imposed.\u200b<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Construction work is only permitted on\u00a0weekdays between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM<\/strong>. Weekend work is prohibited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
