The law transposes Directive 2014/54/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014, which establishes measures for the uniform application and practical enforcement of the right to free movement for workers within the European Union.
It applies to EU citizens and their family members in relation to:
- Access to employment
- Employment and working conditions, particularly pay, dismissal, health and safety at work, and professional reintegration
- Access to social and tax advantages
- Membership of trade unions and eligibility for workers’ representative bodies
- Access to education, training and qualifications
- Access to housing
- Access to education, apprenticeship and vocational training for the children of EU workers
- Assistance provided by employment services
